Mission: The late John Blair died in 1913 leaving the residue of his Estate in perpetuity to pay, from the net annual income, a number of named Scholarships and Bursaries to Dunedin schools and the Otago University. In addition a share was set aside for payment towards the salary of a lecturer on music at Otago University or if any surplus arose from the absence of an appointment of a lecturer and application towards the other objects, then to the purchase of paintings for the Otago Art Society.
