By accessing and using IwiData NZ ("the Platform"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the Platform.

IwiData NZ is operated as a governance transparency platform providing access to publicly available information about iwi organisations in New Zealand.

IwiData NZ aggregates and presents publicly available information from official sources, including:

• Treaty settlement information
• Iwi governance structures and leadership
• Post-settlement governance entities (PSGEs)
• Subsidiary companies and commercial entities
• Officer and director information

Our purpose is to make this public information more accessible and easier to navigate for researchers, journalists, iwi members, and the general public.

You may use the Platform for:

• Research and analysis of iwi governance data
• Journalism and media reporting
• Academic research
• Personal interest and civic engagement
• Iwi member information and engagement

When citing data from IwiData NZ, we encourage you to attribute both our platform and the original source.

You may not:

• Use the Platform for harassment, defamation, or any illegal purpose
• Scrape or bulk download data without permission (contact us for API access)
• Attempt to gain unauthorised access to our systems
• Use the Platform in any way that could damage, disable, or impair it
• Misrepresent information or present data in a misleading manner
• Use information for discrimination or to undermine iwi interests

Cultural Considerations

We acknowledge the special significance of iwi and hapu governance within the context of Te Tiriti o Waitangi. While we present publicly available information, we encourage users to:

• Approach iwi information with cultural sensitivity and respect
• Recognise the unique constitutional position of iwi in New Zealand
• Engage directly with iwi organisations for authoritative information

To the maximum extent permitted by New Zealand law, IwiData NZ shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages resulting from your use of or inability to use the Platform.

Corrections & Feedback

If you believe any information on the Platform is inaccurate, please contact us. We will review and correct verified errors.

We particularly welcome feedback from iwi organisations to ensure information is presented accurately and appropriately.

Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms of Use from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. Continued use of the Platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.

Governing Law

These Terms of Use are governed by the laws of New Zealand. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the New Zealand courts.
